We are running a Biogas Seminar and Study Tour to a recently commissioned 2MW Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Biogas plant based in Nottinghamshire on the 4th May 2011. The Base Feedstocks are energy crops grown locally. This energy crop Biogas plant is based at a water and sewage treatment works. The Seminar sessions will cover biogas produced from AD energy crops and also from waste water/sewage.

The plant uses maize grown locally to power 2 x 1MW Jenbacher CHP (Combined Heat & Power) Gas Engines running 24/7.

The site is a good example of energy crop AD Biogas and is an interesting case study. The plant owners and operatos will be at the seminar and plant tour to answer your questions.

The aim of the Seminar and plant tour is to give a case study as well as background information about the site. The seminar will also inform attendees of the latest technical and legislative situations regarding AD Biogas in the UK. We will also be looking at the equipment side of Biogas, CHP and connections to the National Grid, both electrical as well as Gas to Grid.

With highly informed speakers from across the Biogas industry the Seminar Session will cover the following topics.

  • Overview of the AD market in the UK, opportunities and threats
  • Feed in Tariffs / ROC's
  • Feedstock selection
  • Technical challenges
  • Connection to the National Gas Grid
  • Connection to the Electrical Grid
  • Plant costs, financial modelling and funding opportunities
  • Digestate standards
  • Planning / permitting / Environment Agency issues
  • The Stoke Bardolf site history and case study as well as Severn Trent's renewable energy strategy

The plant tour will take approx 1 hour in total. The seminar sessions will be held 15 mins from the site. We anticipate large demand for this seminar and tour, booking early is advised. When booking please select your prefered tour time, early bird tours are available before the seminar sessions start.
